The Arizona Medical Association is a voluntary organization, origins of which can be traced back to the 1800s. In those days, hospital facilities were not as advanced and physicians were often left without guidance and assistance. Dr Joshua Miller was elected the first president of the Arizona Medical Association and over the hundred years since its birth, the organization has been advocating for the rights of every Arizona physician.

The mission of the Association is to promote health and medical services to the citizen of the state. It also strives to determine an effective communication structure and represent the entire medical community of Arizona including the medical students. This representation consists of representing the lawful, organizational and judicial branches of the Arizona state government.

The goal of the Arizona Association is to identify and elucidate the scope of medical ethics. It also provides its members with benefits and services to advance in their careers. 


The Medical Association also strives to represent members in matters related to economics, education and promotion of art and science of medicine.

Arizona Medical Association provides discounts on individual health insurance, dental insurance, and life insurance. It also provides members with homeowners and worker's compensations. Members can also avail discounts like disability discount and reduced prices on office supplies. The Association also provides credit card options which have generous credit lines and full array of purchase protection benefits. One can also earn rewards, travel, and get merchandise etc with more points on purchases.

The main difference between the Association and American Medical Association is that the former is a separate entity and is distinctly led by Arizona Physician volunteers. It is not a division or chapter of the American medical association but can have members who are also members of the American medical association.

In fact, the Association is the only association that has safeguarded the medical vocation and helped assist in supplying widespread governmental activist/lobbyist services. The association has also worked tremendously at the regional, state and national levels to help guard the field of medicine in the State.

There are five levels of memberships in the Arizona Association: a new membership package, which costs up to $450, a retired full time membership of $50 and resident or fellow-in-training membership of $50. If you are from out-of-state and still need to join the Arizona Association, then you need to pay an amount of $225. This kind of Associations really for professional as well as local peoples also.
